LogBook Terms of Use
LogBook is a record you keep. It measures what it can see in a photograph of a paper target and stores what you tell it about your rifles, your loads and your sessions. It does not make your rifle shoot, and it does not know whether what it tells you is true of the next shot. These terms set out what Pennanti promises and what remains yours.

Who you are agreeing with
LogBook is published by Pennanti LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company. "Pennanti", "we" and "us" mean that company. "You" means the person using the app.
This agreement is between you and Pennanti. It is not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for LogBook or for anything in it.
Your licence
Pennanti grants you a personal, limited, non-transferable, revocable licence to use LogBook on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may use it for your own shooting, and for commercial instruction or gunsmithing if that is your trade.
You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app, reverse-engineer or decompile it except where law permits that regardless of what this agreement says, or strip out its notices and pass the result off as your own. You may not use it to build a competing product.
LogBook, its name, its icon and its measurement work are Pennanti's property. The licence gives you the use of the app. It does not transfer ownership of any of that.
Your logs, your photographs and your measurements are yours. Pennanti claims nothing in them.
Subscription
LogBook is free to download and free to use for logging. Certain features require a paid subscription.
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through your Apple Account, not by Pennanti. Payment is taken at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off automatic renewal at least twenty-four hours before it ends. Apple charges the renewal within the twenty-four hours before the period ends. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings, not in the app, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
If a free trial is offered and you subscribe during it, the unused part of the trial is forfeit.
Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy. Pennanti cannot issue, refuse or expedite them, though we will help you find the right place to ask.
Prices may change. A change to the price of an existing subscription takes effect only at a renewal, and Apple will ask you to agree to it before charging the new amount. Which features are free and which require a subscription may also change; if a feature you are paying for is withdrawn, you may cancel and stop paying for it.
If your subscription lapses, your data stays where it is. Nothing you recorded is deleted, hidden behind a paywall or held back from you — the premium features simply stop working, and you can still read, export and delete everything through CSV export.
What LogBook measures, and what it does not know
LogBook finds shot holes in a photograph and calculates figures from them: extreme spread, mean radius, group size in inches and MOA, and scope corrections in clicks. It is worth being exact about what that means.
The app measures the photograph. Its output is only as good as the image and the scale you give it. A target shot at an angle, a bad reference measurement, torn paper, a keyholed hit, two shots through one hole, poor light — any of these change the number, and LogBook cannot always tell that they have. Check what it found before you trust what it calculated.
Scope corrections are arithmetic performed on the group it measured and the values you entered for your optic. If the click value, the distance or the point of aim you entered is wrong, the correction will be wrong, and it will look exactly as confident as a right one. LogBook is not a ballistic solver. It does not compute trajectory, and it does not know your velocity, your atmosphere or your rifle.
Round counts, barrel life figures, cold bore history and maintenance notes are records of what you entered. They are not an inspection, and they are not a warning system. LogBook will not tell you that a barrel is finished, that a part is worn or that a rifle is unsafe, and you should never treat its silence as an assurance that anything is sound.
Use the app's output as a starting point and confirm it on paper before you rely on it for anything that matters.
Safe and lawful use
Safe firearms handling is entirely your responsibility, and using LogBook does not alter it in any way. The app is a notebook. It is not instruction, training, or a substitute for either, and nothing it displays should be read as telling you a firearm is safe to fire or safe to handle.
You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply where you are: laws on owning, possessing, transporting and using firearms, on ammunition and components, on handloading, and on where you may shoot. Those laws vary between countries, states and towns, and they change. Pennanti does not advise you on them, and keeping a record in LogBook neither creates a legal right nor satisfies a legal obligation.
Do not use LogBook to plan or record harm to anyone, or in the course of any crime.
Your data, and your backups
LogBook has no server. What you record stays on your iPhone and, if iCloud is enabled, in your own private iCloud container. Pennanti cannot see it, cannot recover it and cannot restore it for you. How your information is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Because we hold nothing, we can replace nothing. If your device is lost, wiped or damaged, or if you delete the app or its iCloud data, your logs go with it. Keep your own backups. LogBook exports sessions as CSV from inside the app, and that export is the copy you control.
Warranties
LogBook is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. Pennanti does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that its measurements or calculations will be accurate or suited to any particular purpose, or that defects will be corrected. To the fullest extent the law allows, Pennanti disclaims all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you. Where a warranty cannot be disclaimed, it is limited in duration to the shortest period the law permits.
Any warranty that does apply is Pennanti's obligation and not Apple's. If LogBook fails to conform to a warranty that applies to it, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; beyond that refund, Apple has no warranty obligation for the app of any kind.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Pennanti is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost opportunity, arising out of your use of LogBook — including any decision you made in reliance on a measurement, a correction or a record it produced.
Pennanti's total liability to you for any claim relating to LogBook is limited to the amount you paid Pennanti for it in the twelve months before the claim arose, or twenty-five United States dollars, whichever is greater.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Apple
Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support for LogBook. Support is provided by Pennanti, by email, at the address below.
Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim you or a third party makes about LogBook or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that it fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation. Apple is not responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement or discharge of any claim that LogBook infringes a third party's intellectual property.
By using LogBook you represent that you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo or designated by the United States Government as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
If you use LogBook alongside another application or service, you must comply with that third party's terms as well as these.
Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and on your acceptance of them Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Changes
These terms may change as the app changes. When they do, the date at the top changes with them, and a material change will be notified in the app or on this page before it takes effect. Using LogBook after a change means you accept it. If you do not, stop using the app and cancel any subscription.
Pennanti may also change, suspend or discontinue features of LogBook. Where a change removes something you are paying for, the subscription paragraph above says what happens.
Ending this agreement
You may end this agreement at any time by deleting LogBook and cancelling any subscription through your Apple Account.
Pennanti may end it if you materially breach these terms. Because the app runs on your device and we hold none of your data, ending the agreement does not delete anything you have recorded; it ends your licence to use the app, and you should delete it.
The sections on warranties, liability, governing law and Apple survive the end of this agreement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute arising out of them or out of LogBook is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in South Carolina, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your own country, or of the right to bring proceedings where that law entitles you to.
If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
